What intelligent multicellular organism could ever claim to have seen an amoeba with its own eyes? Amoebas are single-celled shape-shifters, and to quote Irish author Flann O’Brien, they are slightly smaller than invisible. We know they exist. Yet, even if we can’t see them, we can at least listen to them dance. With the very first notes, a curtain opens, and you are inevitably drawn into the action. The microscopic proximity of the subject evokes a surprisingly intimate closeness in the sound.
